Take precautions while helping others
Guys one more rescue worker died today, please be careful, or better yet leave it to experienced people. If you must go out there then here’s a small checklist.
1: Do not get into deep water without life jackets, all it takes is a pothole or large ditch underwater for someone to get seriously injured or worse.
2: If you must do rescues in the night make sure you have a torch, it’s ridiculously dangerous without one. Other essential gear (Knife, rope)
3: Groups of at least three people always so if one gets hurt or stuck two will be there to manage the situation.
4: Keep a first aid kit nearby. Be informed about the shortest route to the nearest hospital.
5: pick up a bunch of surgical gloves, everything is beyond polluted.
6: Make sure you get tetanus shots and do a course of deworming.
7: Make sure you hydrate and eat enough yourself… Reduce work is very physically taxing, Sudden exhaustion can hit you like a tonne of bricks from out of nowhere. Keep some sweets with you for a energy boost.
8: Talk to local people around you before you deploy, they will give you invaluable insight on everything from terrain to requirements. Cross verify info with more than two people.
9: locate people who need rescue first, after you do a reccee make another trip or go back for more help if you have to, do not try to muscle your way through if you are unsure.
10: Know that the people you rescue aren’t as capable, fit or healthy as you are… Asses this first before trying to relocate them, sometimes letting them stay and dropping off a bit off food and water is a much better option than getting them out.
11: Remember this situation will only last a couple of days more at most, army and coast guard are active right now. Do not get carried away and overdo it.

I understand many of you are going through struggles to overcome the badly hit natural disaster in Chennai.
My sincere prayers for the well being of all of you and your family members.
None of us are able to venture out and are struggling without power, basic essentials, water logging at homes and streets etc.,
The common public is also suffering without cash in hand since most of the ATMs and POS terminals at Merchant outlets are not functional due to non availability of power and lease line connectivity.
As responsible citizens, let’s try and open as many Branches as possible tomorrow and on Sunday. I understand many of you have struggles commuting to your branches. Am not forcing anyone. Your personal safety is of utmost importance. But, staff members who can volunteer to reach the branch can do so without compromising on your personal safety.
We have challenges like Power, Submerged DG sets to operate the Branch, System connectivity etc.,
The Senior team members will do the coordination job with the relevant functions / Authorities and will fire fight the challenges on best effort basis
Let’s support our Customers by servicing them in their dire need by providing cash withdrawals at Branches to enable them buy basic essentials.

The situation in Chennai is heartbreaking . They not only need our prayers but also , our support too. Thousands of homes are destroyed in poor areas. They have lost everything including clothes,foodstuffs,utensils,etc. They dont have the basic amenities.

Today we have prepared 750 kgs of rice n distributed in various places, 3600 packets of milk,2600 candles, 3000 packs of biscuits, 3000 ltrs.of water,300 kgs.of milk powder . 80 sleepwell mattresses.The Akbari Family has contributed physically n financially.

KSRTC Operating FREE special services from Chennai to various parts of Kerala.
Buses are available from Chennai to Trivandrum, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam.
Services begin from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, Koyambedu from 9am,
Buses towards Palakkad and Thrissur will be via Villupuram-Salem-Coimbatore and Trivandrum buses will be via Villupuram-Madurai-Thirunelveli-Nagercoil.
So far a total of 12 buses are allotted for the rescue operations. The buses have a seating capacity of 50 and about 25~30 standing passengers can also be accommodated. About 1000 people can be transported from Chennai to safer locations.
